Using the Compliance Log

The Compliance Log is a great place to keep track of federal tax filings, state requirements, bylaws updates, and important license renewals.

Click Compliance Log in the sidebar.

Use the Group Details section to keep track of important organization information.

Tax-exempt nonprofits must file their annual form 990 with the IRS by the 15th day of the 5th month after the end of their fiscal year.

The Federal section allows you to keep track of your federal tax filing due date, which 990 form was filed, the date it was filed, the filer’s name, and any notes. You can also upload a copy of the filed form here.

Click Add New to add more records.

For organizations that require periodic review or updates to the bylaws, enter that frequency to stay in compliance with your governance practices.

Enter when the bylaws were updated and by who. A copy of the bylaws can be uploaded here as well.

U.S. nonprofits must file with their state through specific requirements outlined by each Secretary of State. Input the due date to help you keep track. The State section is a great place to keep these records.

The Other section can be used for any other licensing or filings you want to track such as movie license, charitable solicitation license, gaming license, etc. These documents can be uploaded and stored here.

Note:  the Compliance Log will be carried forward into each new financial year allowing information to be added and updated.
