Charitable solicitation registration

Charitable solicitation is the act of asking for something of value. Nonprofits that raise money from the public must comply with state charitable solicitation registration requirements. If your nonprofit is engaged in fundraising activities, you may need to file an annual Charitable Solicitation registration.


42 states have enacted charitable solicitation statutes.  8 do not require registration, but some do require disclosure statements to be included in solicitation materials.
