Even though the new year doesn’t mark the start of a new school year, it’s still a time when people set new goals and make resolutions. It’s a great time for school groups and committees to do a bit of cleaning up and organizing to prepare for a great second half of the school year. It’s also a time to start thinking about change in the coming months.
After the holidays, gather your board and volunteers together to review upcoming priorities and events. Review each area of focus and set goals to end the year right and prep for the following school year.
Many PTOs, PTAs, and Booster Clubs typically end their fiscal year on June 30th, but it’s never too early to begin preparing for a new fiscal year. While it may be easy to keep using the same accounting system to track donations and spending, considering a new option could be a huge help next year.
Recently, we received the following testimonial from one of our MoneyMinder customers who explained how changing their software helped her and her new treasurer in so many ways:
“I am no longer the Treasurer of our PTO, but it was no exaggeration to say that the MoneyMinder software was life changing for me. And for all the wonderful things the actual software does, each one is backed up by excellent customer service as well – I appreciated always having a helpful, real person to call.
Our new treasurer was not so big on MoneyMinder at first, but thanks to your patient help in the beginning, he recently told me he can’t live without it now. He especially likes that committee chairs can go directly to reports to get their information rather than have to call him all the time.”
If you’ve noticed a few parents who have been willing to go the extra mile for your organization and school, and they have great leadership qualities, connect with them casually and gauge their interest in participating on your committees next year. Prepping now will help you when it’s go time.
When you start looking for more quality volunteers and future board members early, you’re sure to set up the next year to be a huge success.
These tips are great ways for you and your organization to have a successful end of year at school. Not only will you be raising additional funds, but you’ll start next year off with a bang.
