Valentine’s Day Fundraisers are a great idea for many reasons. The timing is perfect as the busy holiday season is over and people are ready and willing to spend some resources on their loved ones. Plus, Valentine’s Day celebrations are not just for couples anymore. It’s a holiday that can be celebrated with all of the family, even beloved pets.
Valentine’s Day fundraisers can be a great income generating activity for many groups. Service organizations, PTA/PTO groups and even Sports Clubs can put on a great fundraiser this time of year.
Here are a few of our favorite fundraising ideas this Valentine’s Day:
Valentine’s Themed Bake Sale
Who doesn’t love a good bake sale, especially with Valentine-themed treats? Bake sales are wonderful because they combine the convenience of a store-bought gift with the sweetness of a truly homemade gift. Decorate a few heart shaped cookies or cupcakes and watch as they fly off the table. Scour the internet for fun healthy-valentine treat ideas and widen your customer base. You simply can’t go wrong.
Couples Class
Seek out a fitness instructor who would be willing to donate a February 14 class to your cause. Yoga, Spin or Zumba would be a really fun Valentine’s activity. Make sure and advertise all over town and on social media. To increase your proceeds have a raffle for a punch card pass to the class.
Host a Dance
A Valentine’s Day dance might be the most romantic fundraiser. Simply locate a venue – perhaps a church hall, a school gym or a community clubhouse. Find a volunteer DJ and start selling tickets! If a DJ is unavailable there is always the trusty iPod, which is a very wallet-friendly option. Decorate your dance hall with pink and red decorations and find a few chaperones. The dance could be elaborated upon as much as you would like with dinner, desserts or wine tasting.
Kissing Booth
Get creative with a kissing booth. No human really wants to share germs mid-winter but our furry friends would love to. Charge interested customers to kiss their pooch and have their picture taken in your booth. For an additional charge print their pictures and sell picture frames that people can take home. One hint, in an effort to keep your customers from getting over excited, maybe set aside two hours for dogs and two for cats or canaries, hedgehogs and others.
Valentine’s Day is just as much about celebrating love as it is about celebrating worthy causes. Use this day to celebrate your cause while making money and have fun doing it.
