There’s Thanksgiving, a day for thanks. There’s Black Friday, the day where crazy people camp out at stores to get great deals. Small Business Saturday comes next with an emphasis on local business. Then there’s Cyber Monday, when those with desk jobs avoid their work duties while they shop online for the deals. What’s next?
For the second year in a row, a community of people is trying to make the Tuesday following Thanksgiving “Giving Tuesday”. Their stated mission is: “to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season.”
No actual transactions take place on the Giving Tuesday website. Rather, they allow registered non-profits to be listed on the site, and provide them with fundraising resources.
We at NonProfit Central could not be more on board with a day of giving taking shape, to help remind all of us what this time of year is really about. How can you participate?
- Get registered on the Giving Tuesday website
- Come up with an amazing fundraising campaign
- Read our treasurer resources and non-profit fundraising articles to help
- Use the #GivingTuesday and #GF hashtags in your campaigns
Did your non-profit participate this year? If so, did you see a spike in donations?
