School’s out for the summer: rejoice! Hopefully by now you’ve got your summer childcare plans squared away and in action. But more than likely, those last few weeks of school were pretty hectic. Figuring out those childcare plans, field days, parent teacher association wrap-ups, and final tests and assignments. Whew, who knew summer was going to be as much of a needed break for you as your kids?
In the midst of the school year-end chaos, did you remember to send a thank you message to your child’s teacher? Trust us, it’s never too late to say thanks.
For all those little moments throughout the year. The ones where you weren’t even present. When your child soaked up a piece of knowledge that will stay with him for life. When he or she had a breakthrough on that math equation, or learned a valuable life lesson. You weren’t there, but your child’s teacher was.
He’ll remember him or her forever.
Did you do enough to thank your child’s teacher this year? Most teachers I know spend a good chunk of their own free time grading papers and tests, and working out the details of a lesson plan so that the subject matter of the day resonates with your child. Was the card you got him or her enough?
We’re not saying you have to buy your child’s teacher a lavish gift, or any gift at all for that matter. But, even if you think you already did it, send a thank you message to your child’s teacher, now. Even though it’s summertime, trust us, it will hit home even more.
At a loss for how to thank him or her? Try sending flowers, a card, a letter from your child, or even a teacher appreciation poem. The thought will go a long way.
