As volunteers ourselves, our mission is to simplify your life as Treasurer.

Our Story

When Cyndi Meuchel and Donna Gawron originally met in 2003, they were small business owners, nonprofit board members, and active volunteers for different groups. They instantly discovered they had one thing in common: the headache caused by financial management and reporting within their respective groups. That, and their dislike of the bad buffet food at the restaurant where their networking group met.

At that time, the treasurer’s role was a combination of spreadsheets, databases, accounting software, different operating systems and continual board turnover. This made for the perfect storm of tedium and unaccountability. Things were an outright mess. That’s when they set out to change the way volunteers run their organizations. Their goal was to create a simple accounting tool for volunteers that had exactly what they needed and nothing more. It had to be easy to learn and simple to transition to new users.

The outcome was MoneyMinder.

Cyndi and Donna’s original mission has grown to touch the lives of tens of thousands of volunteers and organizations over the years. MoneyMinder was founded in 2003 under the name Nonprofit Central by Cyndi Meuchel and Donna Gawron after realizing the current software options for volunteer treasurers were severely lacking. Their goal was to create a simple accounting tool tailored to the unique needs of nonprofits—just the features they needed, nothing more and nothing less.

In late 2024, MoneyMinder joined forces with BryteBridge, a leading nonprofit solutions provider, to bring even greater value to nonprofit organizations. Where is MoneyMinder based?

MoneyMinder has come a long way since its days of borrowed office furniture in a rented airport hangar. Founded in Bellingham, Washington, MoneyMinder's headquarters are now in Winter Park, Florida—with staff across the country.

How secure is my financial information with MoneyMinder?

Security is one of the three pillars that MoneyMinder stands upon, and we have stringent security, privacy and compliance rules that we adhere to. We keep your data securely backed up daily. We have zero third party advertisements to ensure strict adherence to privacy protection.

What types of financial accounts can I manage with MoneyMinder?

MoneyMinder nonprofit accounting software was initially built with parent groups in mind, but as the years went on, it became clear that other types of groups needed a better accounting solution, too. Nowadays, MoneyMinder serves a full spectrum of nonprofits, clubs, charities, parent groups, boosters, sports, homeowners associations and churches.

Can I sync my financial accounts with MoneyMinder?

Yes. MoneyMinder can connect to over 12,000 different banks, Venmo, Stripe, PayPal, Square and CheddarUp via a secure, read-only connection. Syncing your financial accounts can save time and reduce mistakes when compared to manually inputting transactions. You can also import transactions, OFX, QFX or QBO reports.

Is MoneyMinder free?

MoneyMinder does have a free edition to help subscribers manage their budget. This is a great resource for planning your group’s activities, setting up a custom chart of accounts, creating goals and forecasting how different scenarios will impact your budget. This free tool can help your group make informed financial decisions, and track members. 

Is there a free trial available for MoneyMinder?

Yes. Any group can try MoneyMinder for 30-days. No credit card is required to sign up, but you’ll want to be sure to have an accurate financial start date for your group. If you want to continue using MoneyMinder after 30 days, we accept credit cards, debit cards, eChecks or checks.

Can I file nonprofit tax forms with MoneyMinder?

Yes. Groups can quickly and accurately prepare and file IRS Form 990-N, 990-EZ or 8868 with the MoneyMinder Tax Form e-File add on.

How does MoneyMinder stack up against the competition?
