How to track money allocated to an individual

Sometimes groups allocate money to be spent by individuals. For example, a parent group might allow teachers a specified amount of money each year that they will reimburse (Teacher Grants). To track this, you would start by adding those individuals as Contacts, setting up Reimbursement Activity Accounts for each applicable contact.


Next, set up an obligation using “owed to’ and the dollar amount of the obligation. This way you can run an activity report and see who still has funds to spend.


When you go to reimburse an individual, you’ll create a New Withdrawal and apply it to the individual’s activity account:


If you take a look at the Reimbursement Activity Account now, you will see that transaction applied to their statement:
